Maine USA Rank Choice Voting (IRV) initiative;
The Political Establishment will do everything they can to prevent any chance of having IRV adopted. The voters in the state of Maine found this out the hard way.
November 2016 there was a referendum for the Ranked Choice Voting (IRV) that was supported with over 70%+ of the voters.www.fairvote.org/maine_s_first_ranked_choice_voting_election_june_2018 - report on the referendum result. October 2017 the Maine Legislature disregarded the result and repealed the Ranked Choice Voting law. February 2018 the voters collected 80,000 signatures in 88 days to force the Legislature to reinstate the Ranked Choice Voting system.
June 2018 Main had their first Ranked Choice Voting ballot without any problems or issues -

Even with a super-majority (70 %+) in support of the Ranked Choice Voting the established powers try to discount it. The voters of Main had to challenge their own Legislature Representatives. We can expect the same extreme actions by our Legislature concerning IRV. Their first attempt to keep IRV out of the discussion is to refuse to put IRV on the BC referendum in November.
